"I'm quitting my job and I'm pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a rock star. In my 30s. After having "settled down". After marriage (well, during, actually), mortgage, career, kids, dog, and everything else that comes with those. And yes, it's a bit crazy. Oh, and Ryan's doing it with me."

In the spring of 2015, Laura had an epiphany - a suppressed dream unearthed itself and made its way to the front and centre, and she, along with her husband, Ryan, dove in head first. She left her career, sent her previously homeschooled kids to school, and took up her guitar.

The years that ensued have been pretty wild, and The Kwerks have made a splash wherever they've tested the waters. Having released two EPs in 2016 ("The Kwerks", and "Lights"), they've scooped up a Fraser Valley Music Award nomination (2016) and made it to the national top 25 in the CBC Searchlight Competition (2017). Radio stations both locally and across Canada have picked up and played their tunes over the past two years.

"I spend weeks gathering outstanding tracks and artists for my Christmas shows. I'm happy to say The Kwerks new EP is perfect. The tunes are in keeping with the Season but sound fresh and smart. Check out their Holiday EP."
Terry David Mulligan - Roundhouse Radio / CKUA Radio
Their music is a fresh and snappy folk-pop peppered with hints of bluegrass. They infuse their live performances with sassy dance moves by Ryan and cheeky stories flowing from their 18 years of life together. They have a way of making audiences laugh to tears, and leave happier than a bunch of carrot-filled bunnies.

"If the Barenaked Ladies were a married couple they'd be The Kwerks."
Jeff Bonner - Tractorgrease Multimedia & Cafe
